Prepare quarterly accounts and file overdue VAT returns
A freelance engineer in Germany used Claude Cowork to turn a folder of invoices and receipts into quarterly accounts, then had the Claude Chrome extension fill and submit his overdue VAT returns on the tax portal.
What they did
He started a Cowork project, put PDFs of his invoices and receipts in the folder and asked it to prepare the accounts for each quarter. He then logged in to the German tax portal himself and asked Claude, through the Chrome extension, to find the right VAT forms, fill them in and submit them. He used only off-the-shelf Anthropic tools, with no code.
How it went
The poster says his overdue VAT returns for one quarter were filed this way. He also had Claude redact personal details from a screen recording of the process and speed it up to share.
Worth knowing
The post shows no amounts, error checks or review by a tax adviser before submission, so accuracy is unverified. Letting an agent submit tax forms is irreversible, so a human check first is wise.
Try it with Claude Cowork
Using the invoices and receipts in <your invoices folder>, prepare a summary for <quarter and year> showing net sales, output VAT, purchases and input VAT, with a line for every document. Flag anything that looks like a duplicate or has no VAT shown. Once I have checked the summary and logged in to <your tax portal>, help me fill in the VAT return, and stop before the final submit button so I can confirm.
